Edinburgh International Book Festival

I’m doing a few things at this year’s festival.

9 Aug, 1100-1230 - a workshop on starting a writing career (and giving up your day job)

10 Aug, 1400-1530 - a workshop on self-publishing

18 Aug, 1700-1800 - Trends in Publishing (I’ll be part of the panel)

20 Aug, 1845-1945 - Self-Publishing: Vanity or Sanity?

21 Aug, 1845-1945 - Writing for Children: From Tinies to Teens (I’m chairing)

Islay Book Festival, 6 & 7 Sep

This sounds like huge fun. All the authors get to stay in one big, cozy house for the weekend. Can’t wait!

Arran Book Festival, 8 & 9 Sep

I’m going to be visiting all of the primary schools during the two days. I didn’t realise there were so many - 6 in total. Should be fun. I’m also hoping to catch Catherine MacPhail and Keith Gray in action, even if only for a few minutes before I dash off to my next school. All arranged by the wonderful folks at North Ayrshire Council’s Education Resource Service.

Galway Baboro Arts Festival, Oct 08

I’m hoping to make it over to do a few events as part of this festival. I’ve been to lots of schools and libraries in Galway County and Galway City and it’s always been great fun.

East Ayrshire Imprint Book Festival, 10-14 Nov 08

I’m going to be visiting some schools as part of this. Will confirm the dates and locations once I know them.

North Ayrshire Readers’ Day, Irvine, 22 Nov 08

I’ll be chairing this event, which involves several authors and lots of writers.
